COVID-19 Policies

To our community, our patients, our employees, and our families, despite the recent events and subsequent impact surrounding the COVID-19 virus, CU Medicine is fully operational and doing its best to continue all our services to our patients while adhering to Colorado public health orders and restrictions.

We stress the importance of adhering to the following guidelines:

  • Adhere to strict personal hygiene practices

  • Wear a mask and exercise social distancing, even if you have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

  • Stay home if you are displaying any signs of illness

 

The following is guidance regarding COVID-19:

Symptoms

If you experience the symptoms below, there is a risk you have COVID-19 and should stay home.

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

*This list is not all-inclusive. Please consult your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning.

When to isolate or quarantine 

You must stay home if you fall into any of the following groups. Note that you must isolate if positive for COVID-19, even after you've been vaccinated.

  • You are experiencing coronavirus symptoms.
  • You have had prolonged contact in close proximity of 6 feet or less with someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19, whether wearing masks or not, for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period.
    • Healthcare providers who have had protected contact with COVID-19 patients while wearing respiratory PPE, such as N95 masks, do not need to quarantine.
    • If you are fully vaccinated (two doses of Moderna or Pfizer, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine) AND 14 or more days have elapsed since your final dose, you do not need to quarantine.
  • You are under quarantine by the direction of a public health agency or medical provider.
    • Quarantine is a 14-day safety measure in place for individuals exposed to a COVID-19-confirmed person, in case symptoms develop during the incubation period of the virus.
  • You recently pursued testing for COVID-19 due to exposure or because you were experiencing COVID-like symptoms.
    • You must not be present until your test results are received. You may be seen via telehealth if you are able, while awaiting your results.
  • You have tested positive or are presumptively positive for COVID-19, and/or are in isolation.
    • Isolation is a 10-day prevention measure to keep COVID-19-positive or presumptively positive individuals from spreading the virus to others.
