Research Interests for Patients
My research focuses on the intricate interplay between the innate immune system and coagulation/fibrinolytic systems during acute inflammation. Our lab pursues both mechanistic and translational projects, exploring several interrelated themes: 1) The influence of coagulation factor XIII on inflammation and repair processes in acute lung injury. 2) The role of inflammatory protease-mediated plasminogen degradation in pleural space infections. 3) Fibrinolytic abnormalities and their implications in critical illness. Through these investigations, we aim to uncover novel therapeutic targets and develop innovative strategies for managing disease in critically ill patients, particularly those affecting the respiratory system. Our work bridges the gap between basic science and clinical applications, with the potential to improve outcomes for patients with critical illness.
